1. John W. Seely (A). Born about 1814 (18 Jun 1853 NBC). Married 18 Jun 1840 to Ellen Leary at Saint John (Ref B). He died accidentally at Saint John 18 Jun 1853 (18 Jun 1853 NBC). Ellen was born about 1814 (1 Oct 1880 DT) and died at Sand Point (West Saint John) 29 Sep 1880 (1 Oct 1880 DT). John was a Branch Pilot for the port and lived at Sand Point (18 Jun 1853 NBC). The 1871 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John, lists widow Ellen, age 55, and her children. She was born in Ireland and was RC (1871 Census). In 1863/64, she lived at 74 Protection St, Carleton (Ref C). The family retained this property until at least 1908. Identified children:

b. James Davidson Seely (AB). Born about 1843 (1871 Census).

1. Elizabeth A. Seely (AA). Born 1 Jan 1841 (1901 Census). Never married. She died 27 Jul 1920 at Saint John (29 Jul 1920 DT). She is listed in the 1901 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John, as single, age 60, living with her brothers, William and John, at 74 Protection St.
2. James Davidson Seely (AB). Born about 1843 (1871 Census). Married 18 Jan 1876 to widow Abigail R. Coram whose maiden name was Dunham (Ref D). He died 6 Apr 1894 (6 Apr 1894 SJG). Abbie was born 19 Mar 1845 in Ireland (1901 Census). James is listed in the 1871 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John, as an unmarried seaman, age 28. He was a cook living at 74 Protection in 1877/8 (Ref C). He is listed in the 1891 Census of Albert Ward, City of Saint John, as a steward, age 52, with his wife, Abbie R., age 44. He lived at 245 St George St, Carleton, from 1881 until his death and his widow lived there until at least 1900 (Ref C). Identified children (The first three are from his wife's previous marriage):

3. Persis Seely (AC). Born 1 Apr 1847 (1901 Census). Married 13 Feb 1878 to William H. Dougherty (Ref B). She died 27 May 1921 (28 May 1921 DT). William was born 28 Feb 1841 (1901 Census). He was a Customs employee.In 1890/91, they lived on Duke St in Carleton (Ref C). Identified children:
a. William A. Dougherty (ACA). Born 1 Sep 1882 (1901 Census).
4. William H. Seely (AD). Born 7 Mar 1846 (1901 Census). Never married. He died 31 Jan 1908 (1 Feb 1908 DT) and is buried in the old RC Cemetery. He is listed in the 1871 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John, as a saloonkeeper, age 24. He is listed as the proprietor of the Pacific House hotel, 74 Protection St (Sand Point), in 1900/03 (Ref C).
5. John J. Seely (AE). Born 7 Feb 1857 (1901 Census). Probably never married. He died 8 Jan 1937 at the Mater Misericordiae Home and is buried in St Josephs Cemetery (12 Jan 1937 TJ). He had been an inmate of the Home for several years (Ref C). He is listed in the 1871 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John, as an unmarried seaman. He is listed in the 1881 Census of Brooks Ward as an unmarried laborer, age 28. He is listed as a laborer living at 74 Protection in 1881/2 and 1895/6 (Ref C).
6. Anne Seely (AF). Born 28 Jul 1851 (1901 Census). Married 20 May 1872 to Richard Fitzgerald (Ref B). She died 19 Nov 1915 (19 Nov 1915 SJG). Richard was born 10 Sep 1841 (1901 Census) and died 22 Mar 1928, age 87 (23 Mar 1928 TJ). He was a carpenter. Richard and Annie are listed in the 1891 Census of Brooks Ward, City of Saint John. Identified children:
a. William J. Fitzgerald (AFA). Born about 1873 (1891 Census).
b. Ellen Fitzgerald (AFB). Born 5 Aug 1875 (1901 Census).
c. Katherine J. Fitzgerald (AFC). Born 28 Apr 1877 (1901 Census).

5. Jennie Louisa Seely (ABE). Born 1 Feb 1881 (Ref D). Married 7 Jan 1900 to Ralph E. L. Strange (Ref D). She died 23 Aug 1943 at Sioux City, Iowa (25 Aug 1943 DT). She was survived by her husband, three daughters, and one son (25 Aug 1943 DT).
6. Ella M. Seely (ABF). Born 9 Oct 1883 (1901 Census). Either Ella or Amelia was married to J.F. Smith of West Saint John and the other was in the western USA in 1943 (25 Aug 1943 TJ).
