Caroline Barton, S. B. Pioneer, Taken by Death

Mrs. Caroline A. Barton, the oldest native daughter of San Bernardino, died Sunday less than two months before what would have been her 100th birthday. She died in a nursing home.

She was a lifelong resident of San Bernardino and resided at 665 D st. She was the widow of John Barton, one of the sons of San Bernardino pioneer Dr. Ben Barton. Her father was David Seeley, for whom Seeley flats area of the San Bernardino Mountains is named.

Mrs. Barton was a member of the California Society of Pioneers and an honorary member of the San Bernardino Women's Club. She was a member of the Congregational Church.

Mrs. Barton is survived by a son, Thomas Lewis McFarlane, San Bernardino; a daughter, Mrs. Emma Lewis Beamer, of the D St. Address in San Bernardino; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lord's Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon Tuesday until the time of funeral services.
