Marilyn J. Berkes, (nee Seeley) age 81, beloved wife of the late John G. Berkes passed February 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, David Berkes, and sister Betty Gerbig. She leaves a son Michael (Sharon) of Bartlett, TN; four daughters, Susan (Tim) McCracken of Bettendorf, IA; Janet (Tim) Smith of Nashville, TN; Kathy (Mike) Pierce of Sycamore, IL; and Kelly (Ed) Becker of Dekalb, IL; two sisters Shirley Holtz and Lynn Young; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Mon., Feb. 18th from 9:30-10:30 AM at Butala Funeral Home, Sycamore, with a Service beginning at 10:30AM. Marilyn J. Berkes, 81 of Sycamore died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her home.
She was born May 26, 1931 in Geneva, IL. The daughter of Clarence D. and Cleo H. (Stanley) Seeley. She married John G. Berkes on April 14, 1951 in St. Charles.
Marilyn worked as a sales clerk for Kohl's Department Store in St. Charles for many years.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Sharon) Berkes of Bartlett, TN; four daughters, Susan (Tim) McCracken of Bettendorf, IA, Janet (Tim) Smith of Nashville, TN, Kathy (Mike) Pierce of Sycamore and Kelly (Ed) Becker of DeKalb; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Carl) Holtz of Sandwich and Lynn Young of St. Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1983; one son, David John in 1998; and one sister, Betty Gerbig.
A Visitation will be on Monday, February 18th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with a Memorial Service beginning at 10:30 AM. A Graveside Service will be on Monday, February 18th at 12:00 PM at the Calvary Cemetery, 700 E. Washington St., West Chicago, IL.
