F. Eloise Blanchard, 92, formerly of Groton, entered into Heaven July 19, 2003, at the Cayuga County Nursing Home in Auburn. Born July 31, 1910, in Lansing, NY, Eloise was employed with Smith Corona in Groton for over 25 years. She was a longtime faithful member of the Groton Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her daughter Frances Northrup of Port Byron and a son Robert Zirbel of Homer, NY; her siblings, Clifford Seeley of Ithaca, NY, C. John Seeley of Fall River, MA, Gladys Baumann of Hendersonville, NC, and Agnes Bowker of Cortland; her grandchildren, Bonny (Tom) Burnett, Diana Dayed, Keith, Kenny and Kevin (Pam) Zirbel, Norman (Laura) Goss, Fred (Sue) Widger, Frances (Bob) Waterman, Doreen (Leo) Kogut, Dawn (Gary) French, and Denise (Ed) Frantz; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three nieces and six nephews; also her loving "family" at the nursing home and church. Eloise was predeceased by her husband Charles Blanchard and three grandsons, Joe Northrup, George Widger, and Jimmy Janes.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 3 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton. Interment will follow in Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the services, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be graciously given to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.
