Bessie Z. Cornell, 82, of Titusville, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12; 2006, at Titusville Area Hospital shortly after her arrival. Mrs. Cornell was born June 17, 1924, in Troy Township, a daughter of E. Burl and Pearl Morehead Seely.
She married Clarence W. Cornell Jr. in Titusville on July 4, 1940. Mr. Cornell died January 1961.
Mrs. Cornell was employed by GTE Sylvania for 35 years.
She was a member of the Newton Dinner Club. Mrs. Cornell enjoyed her family and friends and working word search puzzles.
Survivors include her son, Richard M. Cornell Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Grand Valley; a grandson, Maj. Richard M. Cornell Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Sewickley and serving with the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Cornell and Nicholas Cornell; a sister, Ila Moronski of Titusville; a foster brother, Kenneth Brewster and his wife, Martha, of Portlow, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ula Johnson, Luella "Midge" Gilson, Louise Stufflebeam and Bertena Anderson; a half sister, Goldie Beardsley and a half brother, Ernest Seely.
Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., where the funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Ralph Gulp, pastor of Grand Valley United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maultby Cemetery in Grand Valley.
