JANET SEELY CRANCE
ITHACA - Janet Seely Crance, 77, of 208 Snyder Hill Rd., passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home. She was born in Ithaca, daughter of the late Lenferd and Louise Bowen Seely. Janet retired as the assistant to the dean in the School of Human Ecology at Cornell University. She had been with the university for 26 years. Janet had a love for dancing, playing golf in her later years and a passion for quilt making and knitting. She very often knitted and donated hats for newborn babies at local hospitals. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Janet is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gerald Crance; her daughters, Cindy (Neil) Stoneman, Bambi Marshall and Deanna Sterling and her grandchildren, Tera and Kalie Stoneman, Trevor Marshall and Tyler, Jenna and Carly Sterling and special family member, Joan Black of California; her sister, Priscilla (Roger) McOmber; her brothers, Edwin (Carol) Seely and Llewelyn Seely and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the many foster children that she and Gerry helped raise over the years. She will be missed by her family and friends both locally and in Florida where she and Gerry spent many winters.
In keeping with Janet's wishes there will be no public services. Arrangements for a graveside service to be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's memory may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
