Donna Rae Douglas, age 86, of Hinsdale, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MI, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m., Pastor Terri Bentley will officiate. Burial will take place at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Donna was born in Highland Park, MI, on August 19, 1926, the daughter of Floyd A. and Lillian S. (Echlin) Seeley. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1944 and from the University of Michigan in 1949. Donna married her beloved husband, Robert Douglas on June 12, 1949. They were married for 60 years before his death on June 11, 2009. Bob practiced law in St. Louis, MI from 1952 until 1986. During the 1950s, Donna worked as a social worker and later became a homemaker after the birth of their two daughters. She was a former member of the St. Louis First United Methodist Church.

Donna enjoyed getting together with friends in St. Louis and on Treasure Island. The family spent many summers at their cottage on Higgins Lake, which Bob designed and built. In retirement, Donna and Bob enjoyed their winter home in Palm Springs, CA and their summer home in Michaywe'.

Donna is survived by her two daughters, Dianne Douglas (Peter) Carroll of Hawthorn Woods, IL, and Jana Douglas (Peter) Boomer of Hinsdale, IL; and grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Carroll and Reagan and Charlie Boomer.

The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, 117 N. East Street, St. Louis, Michigan 48880.
