Mary Jane (Seeley) Eastman

ST. STEPHEN, N.B. – Mary Jane (Seeley) Eastman, died peacefully May 24, 2001, after a brief illness at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. She was born in Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, N.B., Nov. 17, 1907, the daughter of Robert and Phoebe (Garnet) Seeley.

Mary was a member of Gateway Cathedral. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. She was a very independent lady of 93 years who was proud of the fact that she was able to stay in her own home and drive her car to the stores to do her banking and shopping. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Stewart of Utopia, N.B.; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, one brother-in-law, Archie Mitchell of Calais, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, A. Earle Eastman; daughter, Roberta Young; son, Ernest Eastman; six brothers, Donald, Danny, Hollis, Alden, George and Walter; five sisters, Florence, Avis, Dorothy, Haxel and Edith.

A service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at MacDonald’s Select Funeral Home, 20 Marks St., St. Stephen, N.B. with nephew, Rev. Philip Anderson officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Arrangements by St. George Funeral Service Limited, 26 Portage St., St. George, N.B. and MacDonald’s Select Funeral Home, 20 Marks St., St. Stephen, N.B.
