GONYEA, Mary Ellen - Of Grand Blanc, formerly of Flint, age 78, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Brian's House of Davison. Funeral service will be held 12Noon Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Karen Williams, officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or Brian's House of Davison. Visitation 5-8PM Thursday, 10AM-8PM Friday and 11AM Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pilgrim Chapter #447 O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at 7PM Friday at the funeral home. Mary was born in Flint on January 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Eddy and Luella (Russel) Seely. She was a resident of the Flint area all of her life. On September 16, 1950, she married Bruce Leon Gonyea and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1989. Mary was a member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, taught school for 25 years at Morrish Elementary School in Swartz Creek and was a member of the Pilgrim Chapter #447 of the Eastern Stars. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jacqueline (David) Coons of Flint, Sheri (Moris) West of Flint; 4 sons, Bruce K. (Nanci) Gonyea of Phoenix Arizona, Douglas (Kelly) Gonyea of Swartz Creek, Duane (Ann) Gonyea of Thompson Station Tennessee and Mark (Laura) Gonyea of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Matthew, Sarah, Eric, Scott, Kyle, Nicholas, Laura-Kate, Joseph, Tori, Todd, Emily and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Amanda, Shianne, Jordan and Zachary; sister, Ethel Seely Brewster and husband Robert of Phoenix Arizona.
