Mrs. Adelia Gray

Mrs. Adelia Gray, 76, one of the best known residents of Wayne County, died early Thursday morning, Oct 8, 1936, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gus Fitzsimmons, Browndale, following a long illness. She formerly was Adelia Seeley, a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jacob * Seely, pioneer residents of South Canaan. She was united in marriage in 1877 to Ashfield Gray, who died several years ago. Mrs. Gray had resided in Carbondale, Parsons, and in Waymart. Since July she has been living with her daughter at Browndale. She was a member of the Waymart N.E. church. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Fitzsimmons, she is survived by a brother, Seldon Seeley, Oxford, N.Y., a sister, Mrs. Aldrued Paynter, Waymart; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place from her daughter's home on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Dr. S.E. Hunt, pastor of the Waymart M.E. church, will officiate. Interment in Canaan Corners cemetery.

*should be Jonas, not Jacob. Jonas died in 1920, and his youngest brother, Jacob, was living in the home of Joseph and Aldrude Paynter about the time of Adella's death.
