Frances Arlene Hackett

FRANCES ARLENE HACKETT, 69, OF TAYLOR, died suddenly on Thursday, June 25, 1998 of a heart attack.

She was born Oct. 29, 1928, to Leroy and Florence (Rood) Seeley in Owtana, Minn. Frances married Earl Hackett on April 19, 1947. In her never ordinary life, Frances worked as a school bus driver, commercial fisherman, ironworker and repite worker for Jackson County Human Services.

Frances had a generous heart, blessing her with many friends and caring family. Her door was always open to stray animals and people, which led her eagerly down the many twists and turns in life's highway. She enjoyed helping others and going to rummage sales. During the Gulf War, she wrote to soldiers who had no other family.

Frances is survived by two sons, Fred Hackett of Galesville, Roy Hackett of Mindoro; three daughters, Joan (Martin) Berg of Blair, Diane (Jaime) Keller of La Crosse and Lisa (Keith) Hunter of Ettrick; three grandchildren, Cody, Dalton Olson and Dannel Toth; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Nelson of Holmen.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three children, Barry, Evelyn and Jennifer Hackett, who died in infancy. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Smith Mortuary in Galesville. The Rev. John Twiton will officiate.

Frances will be remembered for her zest of life, friends, caring heart and pies that graced holiday tables. All who knew her know only her body has given out while her spirit lives on. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Franciscan Skemp Health Care Center to assist other cancer survivors.
