Ruth Lavern Heath, 85, went Home to sing with the Angels February 6, 2013 after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born May 12, 1927 to Verle Everett Seeley and Josephine Doub Seeley at Harrodsburg, IN. She met Howard Carter Heath at Camp Atterbury after the war and were married February 2, 1947. Howard preceded Ruth in death in June of 2007. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Eva May Glover. Ruth is survived by her children Randy Silas Heath of Bloomington, Sally Livingston (Ernest) of Bloomington, and Melody Belle Pope (Rick) of Harrodsburg, grandchildren Jason Pope (Robin), Mathew Pope (Tiffany), Cody Pope, Carrie Knight (Tony), Tonya Long (Phillip) and Yvonne Dwigans. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, Jameson Pope, Gracie Marie Long, Colton, Conner and Calli Pope, Chevelle Knight, Gavin, and Brayden Robinson, and Zayne Dwigans. Ruth graduated from Smithville High School and Indiana Business College, and also attended Indiana University. She wanted to have children and a career in the day when women did not have a career. Ruth worked at Orlando Naval Training Center, and NWSC Crane until retirement. She owned Park Place Real Estate in Bloomington, and she wrote and published “Years of Glory” and “Remember When” about the history of Harrodsburg. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ where she loved to sing all the old southern gospel hymns in accapella. Visitation for Ruth will be Friday February 8, 2013 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday February 9, 2013 at the Harrodsburg Church of Christ. Brother Walter Hunter will officiate the service and burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery.
