Abrelia Clariassa Hinckley

EDEN, Weber County – Memorial services are pending for Abrelia Clariassa Seely Hinckley, 80, of Eden, wife of Robert H. Hinckley of a prominent Provo family. She was the sister-in-law of G. Marion Hinckley, Provo.

Mrs. Hinckley was born Sept. 19, 1892 in Mount Pleasant to John H. and Margaret Peel Seely. She attended Mount Pleasant schools, Brigham Young University and LDS College in Salt Lake City.

She was married on June 23, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Throughout her life she supported her husband in his many government activities, from serving as mayor of Mount Pleasant to assistant secretary of commerce in Washington, D.C.

She was first president of the women’s auxiliary to the Utah Wool Growers Association and active in DUP and other civic groups.

Survivors include her husband, three sons and one daughter, Robert H. Hinckley Jr., Salt Lake City; John S. Hinckley, Ogden; Paul R. Hinckley, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Preston (Betty) Nibley, Newtown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
