Valerie Seely James

Valerie Seely James 1965 ~ 2007 Valerie Seely James, age 42, passed away at her home in Adams (near Pendleton), Oregon, on September 24, 2007, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Valerie was born 23 March 1965 in Price, Utah, the eldest child of Montell and Kathryn Pincock Seely of Castle Dale.

She attended Emery County schools and graduated from Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. She attended BYU, and served a mission (1986-87) in Curitiba, Brazil. She worked for a time in the Missionary Department at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. Valerie married Brant H. James 25 February 1989 in the Manti Temple. They have three precious children. Valerie was a water aerobics instructor and an advocate for home school associations. She enjoyed home school with her children. She was active in public affairs for the Stakes in which she lived. She loved her callings in Primary and Relief Society. She had been a member of the Library Board and newsletter editor for the city of Adams. Her hobbies included music, reading, writing, cooking, family history, and pioneer heritage. Valerie will be remembered for her positive, uplifting nature. Full of hope and optimism, she faced her own adversities and brought cheer to her associates.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Monette Seely. She is survived by her husband Brant, sons Brandon and Ryan, and daughter Emilie, all of Adams; her parents and sister LeAnne Seely of Castle Dale; sisters, Karla (Thane) Thalman of Phoenix, AZ; Fawn (Tim) Miller, Manti, UT; Janell (Kyle) Beagley, Price, UT; and brother Mark (Brenda) Seely, West Valley, UT.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m., at the Pendleton First Ward, 12th and Gilliam. Interment, Olney Cemetery, Pendleton.
