Diane Seelye Johnson, 72, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 in La Jolla, Calif. after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. Diane was born Aug. 25, 1933, to John and Vula Seelye, in Pueblo, Colo., where she grew up. She married Leonard L. Johnson on December 26, 1952, in Oakland, Calif. They lived in Oakland and La Jolla, Calif., Pueblo and Grand Junction, Colo., Farmington N.M., New Orleans, La., and Houston, Texas. Diane graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colo., and also went to college in Pueblo. She earned her B. S. from Southern Colorado University in 1974. The Denver Chapter of the American Society of Woman Accountants recognized her as the Outstanding Senior Woman Accountant at her University. Together with her husband Leonard, she helped to found Central Pipe and Supply in 1976. She was Board Chair and Executive Vice President of Central Pipe & Supply, and Central Threading, Inc. In 1982 she accepted an invitation to join as a founding member of the Committee of 200, an association of women executives in business. Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leonard L. Johnson. She is survived by her children, Michael Owen Johnson and his wife Nancy Stephenson, Lori Nelson and her husband John Nelson, Charles Leonard Johnson and his wife Naira Johnson. Her grandchildren are Katherine Diane Duncan, Erin Elizabeth Greenwald and her husband Charles Greenwald, Andrew Leonard Johnson, Ruth Diane Johnson, step grandchildren Kyle Z. Campbell, and Kayela A. Campbell. Her great grandchildren are Sam and Jack Greenwald. Also surviving are her brother J. Charles Seelye and his wife Joanne, and numerous nieces and nephews. Diane was a lover and collector of antiques, art glass and pottery. She was also a talented needlework artist. One of the things she will always be remembered for was her life-long love of poetry, and appreciation for a good joke. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Dec. 17, 2005, at the Wyndham Hotel Greenspoint, in Houston, Texas with Pastor Anthony Gaskill officiating. Immediately following will be an afternoon meal also at the Wyndham Hotel.
