Mary Lorraine Seely Kay

Mary Lorraine Seely Kay, 85, of 926 Grandview Road, Oil City, died at the Oil City Presbyterian Home on Monday, May 16, 2011.

Born October 21, 1925, on Dempseytown Road, Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Ruby Stuck Seely.

Mrs. Kay graduated from Rocky Grove High School and attended various business courses.

She was employed at National Transit Pump and Machine Co. during WWII and for a number of years for the Oil City Area School District.

Mrs. Kay was well known for her custom made bridal and attendant gowns.

She was grateful for her loving family and friends, and enjoyed church organ music, reading, sewing, crocheting, and attending her grandchildren's events.

Mrs. Kay was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the YWCA.

On September 4, 1948 she was married to Louis W. Kay at Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City. Louis preceded her in death on February 21, 2000.

She is survived by four children, Rev. William L. Kay and wife, Linda, of Ellicottville, NY, Terrence L. Kay and wife, Linda, of Ellicott City, MD, Barbara Anne Koschmann and husband, Mark, of Midland, MI, and Mary Jeanne Gavin and husband, Patrick, of Oil City; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arden Seely, and Wayne Seely and his wife Clara.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and on Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church from 10 to 11 am.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. William L. Kay, her son, and the Rev. David Oester, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, the Venango VNA Foundation, or the Oil City YWCA.
