Ethel N. LaBatte, 90, enjoyed gardening

AMESBURY -- Ethel N. LaBatte, 90, of 31 Madison St., died yesterday morning at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Rene LaBatte, who died in 1994.

Born in Lubec, Maine, on Sept. 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George and Francis (Fletcher) Seeley.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed playing cards and fishing with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

She is survived by two sons, Rene R. LaBatte of Haverhill and Edward LaBatte of Amesbury; three daughters, Marion Panapoulous of Milford, N.H., and Annette LaBatte and Debbie Crocker, both of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, and Timothy LaBatte, Troy Burrell, Taylor Crocker, Ann Lynn Panapoulos, and Holly LaBatte; her special friends, George and Barbara Lufkin, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister if the late Angus, Ranie, George, John, Theodore, Jennie, Portia, and Margaret Seeley, Doris Olsen, Huldah Hamon, Laura Duke, Letina Hook, and Kathleen Lowe.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec., 9 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish's Sacred Heart Church, 67 Friend St.

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras and Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
