Eloise (Seeley) Mann

Eloise (Seeley) Mann died Monday, January 3, 2011 while under hospice care in the home of oldest son, James and Sue Mann of Toledo, Ohio. Eloise was born to Clyde A. and Hattie (Thorp) Seeley on January 16, 1926 in South Ripley, New York.

Eloise is survived by her 3 sons, James R. (Sue), Toledo, OH, Thomas L. (Shirley), Vermilion, OH, Ronald C. (Deborah), Vermilion, OH, 7 grandchildren, Michael Mann, Erinn (Brian) Wilson, Peter Mann, Douglas (Samantha) Mann, Erica (Wilson) Ngure, Nicole and Eric Mann and 4 great grandchildren, Ella (Wilson), Thomas, Juliet and Terrence (Ngure). Eloise had many nieces and nephews and many friends in the Ripley area.

Eloise attended the one room Gages Gulf School through 7th grade and graduated from Sherman High School in 1943.

She worked as a secretary in Erie, PA then met and married James E. Mann of Ripley, NY on September 15, 1945. She and Jim celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2009 coming just a couple of months short of their 65th when husband Jim preceded her in death July 13, 2010.

Eloise was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Norris, Wayne and Donald and one baby sister, Genevieve Seeley and father and mother.

She has two surviving sisters-in-law, Lois (Kalteis) Seeley and Alma (Mann) Jones.

Eloise sold Stanley Home Products on the party plan for 25 years.

She had many hobbies such as quilting, knitting and counted cross stitching. She was active in the Methodist church which she joined at age 12 and was a member at South Ripley, State Line and the Ripley United Methodist Church where she was a member since 1966.

Eloise lived with her husband in Kenmore, NY for 2 years before moving to State Line in 1947 where they lived for over 62 years. In November 2009, both Jim and Eloise moved to Toledo, OH to live with son James and Sue Mann.

Funeral arrangements are with William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St., North East, PA. Viewing is Sunday, January 9th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Monday, January 10th from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon. Funeral services are at Noon on Monday with interment at the Quincy Cemetery in Ripley, NY. following.
