Alma Seeley McDaniel

Mrs. McDaniel, 90, of Charlotte, NC, died August 30, 2005 at Mecklenburg Healthcare. She was born on October 23, 1914 in Norfolk, VA, a daughter of the late Elsa and Lawrence Seeley.

She was born and raised, and lived most of her life in Norfolk. Preceding her in death were her only sister Louise Furman; and husbands H.G. Rogers and Norman McDaniel.

Mrs. McDaniel was a retired registered nurse and homemaker. She moved to Charlotte in 1990 with her daughter and son in law.

She is survived by her daughter Audrey Shultz and husband Paul of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Lea Ann Owens and Grady Owens and wife Anne; and great-grandchildren Jessica and Rachel Owens, all of Harbinger, NC; and a niece Beverly Furman and husband Al of Norfolk.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Thursday evening, September 1, 2005 at the Pineville Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Rd. Charlotte. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk on Saturday will be private.

A special thanks to all the staff, caregivers, and friends at MHCC where Alma was a resident for the last five years. Their friendship and loving care will always be remembered and cherished. Thanks also to Hospice at Charlotte, who in Mother's last days gave such attentive care and compassion.

Mrs. McDaniel always loved animals, so in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charlotte Humane Society, 2646 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203, or to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
