Norma Seeley McGahhey

A memorial service will be held for Norma Seeley McGahhey, 89, Friday at Evangeline Funeral Home with the Rev. Felipe Davila of First Assembly of God Church officiating.

Mrs. McGahhey died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 11:00 p.m. at New Iberia Manor North.

Mrs. McGahhey was born Jan. 5, 1919 in Cristobal Canal Zone, US to Morris Monroe Seeley and Maria Louisa Ensminger Seeley. She was a clerical worker for the United States Government while in the Canal Zone. She recently relocated back to New Iberia with her son Larry after residing in Dothan, Ala. for 28 years. Prior to that, she worked at Iberia General Hospital as a switchboard operator along with her husband who was a security guard. Mrs. McGahhey enjoyed arts and crafts and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by her son, Larry Neil McGahhey of New Iberia; grandchildren, Keith L. McGahhey, Kent L. McGahhey and Kim McGahhey Breaux and her husband Olden Pierre Breaux all of New Iberia; six great- grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; brother and sister, Rodney R. Seeley and Mildred Hammond both of South Carolina and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Francis "Frank" McGahhey; parents, Morris Monroe Seeley and Maria Louisa Ensminger Seeley and sister, Thelma "Talley" Stoudner.

Donations may be made to a special account for the future care of Mrs. McGahhey's surviving son Larry McGahhey.
