Ruth (Seely) McQueeney

Ruth (Seely) McQueeney, 75, a Newington resident for 44 years, passed away peacefully at New Britain General Hospital, from respiratory failure, holding hands and watching the Olympics with her son on Friday, (February 15, 2002). Ruthie was always the clown, the nut, who brought laughter and love into many lives. Within five minutes of meeting her, you either had a nickname, a title or were just instant family. She was a devoted Jets and Tiger Woods fan and is probably Dale Earnhardt's second momma by now. She adored Sinatra, collected penguins and loved plain cheese pizza. She was a statistician for many years for the CT State Rifle & Revolver Assoc. and a volunteer for the Newington Senior & Disabled Center, where she was named ``Volunteer of the Year'' in 1993. And now she is certainly serving as an advisor to ``The Big Guy.'' Ruth will be missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, her ``Papa,'' Raymond of Newington; her son and ``daughter'', Rob and Jackie McQueeney of Bristol; her brother, George ``Fuzzy'' Seely and his wife, Lorie of East Hampton; her in-laws, Bernie and Dora McQueeney of Glastonbury, Geraldine ``Pete'' Beale, of Boca Raton, FL and Theresa McQueeney of Newington; her grandchildren, Maddie, Miles and Casey ``Sue-Sue''; many nieces and nephews and her ``mew-mew'', Cara-Mia. Her memorial service will be Thursday, February 28, at the First Congregational Church in Newington, at Main and Cedar Streets, at 1p.m. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Please make a donation in ``Nana's'' name to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 North Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.
