CALAIS – Hazel R. Mitchell, 84, died April 9, 1999, at a Calais hospital. Born on Campobello Island, N.B., Canada, Jan. 9, 1915, the daughter of Robert and Phoebe (Garnett) Seeley.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Calais, life member of the Norman Dow VFW Post, past member and president of the Boyd-Smith Post No. 9779 of Calais and past president of District No. 3 VFW.
Surviving are her husband, Archie Mitchell of Calais; two daughters, Edith A. Colson and her husband, Ken of Calais, Betsy J. Fox of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Mary Eastman of St. Stephen, N.B.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special friends, Pauline and Gene Demmons of Calais.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Calais Cemetery with Pastor Chester Garrison officiating. Friends who wish may make donations in her memory to the Second Baptist Church, P.O. Box 925, Calais, Maine 04619 or Calais Regional Hospital Nursing Education Fund. Arrangements by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home of Calais.
