Patricia Elma Mitchell

BARBERTON -- Patricia Elma Mitchell, 88, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

She was born July 18, 1926 in St. Johnsville, New York, to the late Rev. Ray and Elma Seely. She graduated from Columbus Grove High School in 1944 and went on to attend Bluffton University in Bluffton, Ohio the following year. After moving to Barberton, Ohio in 1948, she became a member of the Columbia United Church of Christ where her father was the Pastor. There she met and married her soul-mate, Donald R. Mitchell. They were married on December 20, 1953 and spent 49 glorious years together.

Patricia and her late husband, Donald built a tremendous legacy and led their family by example. She will be remembered as our beloved family matriarch, using her incredible optimism to inspire and strengthen the fibers that bond those she loved. She often shared her life's motto which is a testimony of her strong faith:

"Everything always works out".

She was a tremendous seamstress, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She left behind countless hand-made treasures, but none more precious than her strong will and devotion to her family.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Marsha Mitchell (Paul Hennigin); son, James Kevin Mitchell; grandchildren, Elizabeth Allison (Vince), Emily Hall, Ellen Conroy (Wayne), Mike Kommersmith; great-grandchildren, Savanna Deem, Madelyn and Olivia Kommersmith, Ethan and Adrian Conroy, Aiden and Sarah Allison, Trinten Cole; brothers, George, Preston (Marge) and Robert Seely; and sister, Margaret Humphreys; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Mitchell; and her granddaughter, Marcie Hall.

The family would like to thank Summa Hospice Services and Palliative Care for the loving care they provided, and a special thank you to her granddaughter, Emily Hall and brother, Robert Seely for devoting themselves around-the clock to her care as her health declined. In addition, we would like thank the West side of Barberton for "contributing" to the eternal spring bouquets that surrounded Patricia during her final months.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Road, W., Barberton, Ohio 44203 with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Columbia United Church of Christ.

Patricia's life will be forever celebrated by those who loved her. In her remaining months, she proclaimed to anyone who was listening:

"I have lived a great life. I have no regrets and I am so proud of my family. What more could anyone ask for in life?"
