Clara E. Monroe, 80, Henning, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in the Shady Oak Retreat near Underwood, Minn.

Clara Ellen Seelye was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Cass Lake, Minn., where she grew up and graduated from high school. In June 1945, she married Benedict Monroe. They lived in Cass Lake. In the early 1950s, they moved to Blaine, Minn. She worked for Honeywell and Cornelius Manufacturing while in the Minneapolis area. In 1991, she moved to St. Cloud, Minn. In 2004, she entered the Henning Health Care Center and later the Shady Oak Retreat.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Robin (Alyce), Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters, Patricia (Rick) Heaton, Ottertail, Minn., Nancy (Gordon) Raabe, Champlin, Minn.; a brother, Lon (Marian), Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and two sisters, Gladis Van Eps, Chicago City, Minn., Nina McKennett, Cass Lake; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in the Belmont Funeral Home, Henning, and Friday from 9 to 10 in the First Baptist Church, Henning.

Funeral: Friday at 10 in the church.

Burial: Pine Ridge Cemetery, Cass Lake.
