Gertrude Ione Oberg, 83, of Birchwood died Dec. 22 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.

She was born on May 11, 1920 in Couderay, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Ward) Seeley. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1938 and then attended Technical College in Hayward. She married Walter “Goldie” Oberg on May 4, 1940 in Hayward. She worked at the Evan’s Cafe in Birchwood then in 1945 began working at the Birchwood School Cafeteria and later at the Tagalong Golf Course. She was a member of the bridge club for many years. She loved to play Keno, going to Las Vegas and her cat, Pooper.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Ink Tronstad of Sarona, and Jackie and Jim Keating of St. Paul, Minn.; four grandchildren, Dan Tronstad, Sean Keating, Shannon Carlson and Stacy Keating; great-grandson, Gavin Carlson; and two nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Walter in 1995, her parents, and two sisters Maurita Van Guilder and Catherine Vitcenda.

Funeral: Services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 27 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake. Donald Berry officiated.

Burial: Woodland Cemetery in Birchwood.
