Ruth S. Perry

Ruth S. Perry, 83 of Carmel, died Sunday at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula after a brief illness. Mrs. Perry, a homemaker who had lived in Carmel since 1948, was born in Wisconsin on Oct. 15, 1904. She grew up in Chicago but spent many years in Michigan before moving to Carmel. She was formerly active in the Junior League of the Monterey Peninsula and founded the organization's major annual fund-raising event, the "Next to New" sale. She was also a member of the Community Hospital auxiliary and performed volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and the Carmel chapter of the American Red Cross. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Davis of Clovis, and by two granddaughters. No funeral services will be held, at her request. Cremation will take place at the Little Chapel-by-the-Sea. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions go to Community Hospital.
