Mildred L. Porter

Mildred L. Porter, 95, of Lockwood passed away Monday, August 6, 2013, at the Schuyler Hospital.

She was born September 5, 1917 in Cayuta, N.Y., the daughter of the late Sadie Brink and George D. Seeley.

Mildred graduated from Waverly High School, she received her bachelor's degree from Cortland State Teachers College and her master's degree from Cornell University. She taught third grade at the Van Etten, New York, Elementary School, and served as principal there for 11 years until her retirement.

Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Sears; her second husband Ellsworth Porter; her sister Loretta Martin; and her brother George Seeley Jr.

Mildred is survived by her three loving children and their spouses -- David and Deborah Sears, of Glenwood, N.Y., Marilyn and the late John Porter, of Trumansburg, N.Y., and Dale and Sibyl Porter, of Altus, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
