Only cousins survive Mrs. Pruyn. Her husband died January 24, 1924 and their only child, M. Seeley Pruyn, died November 11, 1934. Mrs. Pruyn had been in poor health for years and had had a private nurse in attendance at her Woodruff Hotel apartment for about a year and a half.

She was born at Sandy Creek, September 11, 1864, a daughter of the late Elhanon and Marion Mason Seeley. The early part of her life was spent at Sandy Creek, where she was married in 1883 to William M. Pruyn, son of the late Major Minott A. Pruyn of Sandy Creek. The Pruyns went to Watertown in 1898 when William M. Pruyn established, with Thomas A. Sears, the wholesale grocery business, which still bears their name. Mr. Pruyn was the active head of the company until his death, at which time his son, M. Seeley Pruyn, succeeded him in the business.

Mrs. Pruyn had served as secretary of the firm for about 25 years until her death. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and of Lake Ontario Chapter No. 124, Order of the Eastern Star.
