Muriel Pauline Richardson

RICHARDSON, MURIEL PAULINE 1914 - 2004 Muriel Pauline Richardson of Fredericton Junction formerly of Saint John passed away Sunday at the Oromocto Hospital. Born on April 2, 1914 in Fredericton Junction, N.B. daughter of the late E. Claude and M. Josephine (Foster) Seeley. Since the age of six, she has lived in West Saint John, N.B. She graduated from Saint John High School in 1931 and from Saint John Vocational School in 1932. Upon completion of the teachers training course at the Provincial Normal School, Fredericton in 1933, she began her teaching career at the Children's Wing of the T.B. Sanatorium, East Saint John. For many years she taught in Elementary schools throughout the Saint John and Lancaster areas. On July 3, 1937 she married G. Allison Richardson at the Charlotte Street United Baptist Church(now Hillcrest Baptist Church) where they both served faithfully and with much dedication throughout their lives. Pauline always had a passion for missions and served as a Mission Band leader and Sunday School teacher. She was a Dominion Life Member of the United Baptist Women's Missionary Union, a charter member of the Harmony Club and longtime member of the Ladies Club. She held various executive positions in each of these groups and always carried out the responsibilities faithfully. At the time of her passing Pauline was the longest standing member of Hillcrest Baptist Church having become a member following her baptism on April 24, 1927. She was an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary and helped when she could at the Hospital and at the Red Cross Lodge. She was a member of the Saint John Y's Menettes and upon retirement she joined the Lancaster Diamonds Seniors Group, enjoying their meetings and frequent trips. In the past few years, she has attended worship services at Patterson United Church, Wirral whenever she was able. Her favourite hobby was knitting and her family members will cherish the hand knit socks and afghans she knit with much love and care.

Pauline is survived by one daughter, Mary (Robert) Cooke, Dartmouth, NS; four sons, Allen (Kathy) Richardson and George (Diana) Richardson, Saint John NB, Dr. John (Ruth) Richardson, Fredericton Junction and Lorne (Lynn) Richardson, Ottawa Ont., sister, Norma (Jack) Proud, Moncton; brother George P. Seeley, Lower Coverdale; 16 Grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, G. Allison Richardson and brother, E. Lorne Seeley. A very special thanks is extended to her marvelous homecare providers at the home of John and Ruth Richardson; Trudy, Gloria, Elaine and Wanda who tenderly cared for her over the past four and 1/2 years in Fredericton Junction and became her friends. Thanks is also extended to the nurses and staff of 4 South West at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Fredericton and the William R. Duffie Unit, Oromocto Hospital for their care and attention to her special needs over the past weeks along with Dr. Vaughn Roxborough for his dedicated care.

Visitation at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Wednesday at the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the service a reception will be held in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Queens Sunbury Ambulance Fund in Fredericton Junction, the Tri County Complex Arena Fund also in Fredericton Junction or a charity of the donors choice
