Iva M. Rogers (1911-2011)

PLAINFIELD - Iva May Rogers, 100, of Greene, formerly of Plainfield, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at Waverly Health Center, Waverly.

She was born Jan. 3, 1911, in Waterloo, daughter of Jess and Vera Knapp Seeley, and after the death of her mother when Iva was 5, she was adopted by her maternal grandparents, Dennie and Carrie Knapp. She married Alfred Rogers on April 23, 1929, in Austin, Minn.

Mrs. Rogers and her husband farmed together in the Clarksville area until 1960, when they purchased a farm north of Horton. They retired from farming in 1972 and moved into Plainfield, where she worked at the Hartman Meat Locker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Clarksville.

Survived by: a daughter, Ruth (Robert) Shaffer of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son and daughter-in-law, Louie and Burdette; a daughter and two sons-in-law, Lorraine and John Kellner and Dean Vorhes; a grandson; a brother, Jesse Seeley; and a sister, Gladys Hansen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with family present 4 to 8 p.m.
