Carroe Mae (Seely) Russell, 96, formerly of Bryan, passed away March 28, 2015 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, March 30 at Memorial Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas. Services are set for Tuesday at 2:00, March 31 at the funeral home with Reverend Steve Johnson of First Baptist Church in Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Robertson County.

Carroe Mae was born to James H. and Lena (Ayers) Seeley June 29, 1918. Her family moved to Tabor where she grew up. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin in Bryan, and San Jacinto College in Houston. In 1940 she married Elmer N. Lang Sr. and they had two children, Cassandra and Elmer II. Elmer Sr. passed away in 1950. Carroe Mae returned to Bryan with her children and parents to live on Colson Road where she began employment at G. T. E. as a long distance operator. She remarried in 1957 to Granville W. Russell Sr. and they had two children, Debbie and Travis. Granville passed away in 1971. In 1980 Carroe Mae retired from G. T. E. She was a faithful member of Northview Baptist Church for over sixty years. She was a loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family valued her opinions and respected her independence. Her passing leaves a huge hole in our family and we will miss her dearly. Her faith in God was an influence on all who knew her.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband Elmer N. Lang, husband Granville W. Russell, sisters Mildred Brady and Verna Lee Coburn, son Travis Russell, granddaughter Heather Lang, grandson Clifford Mayfield, daughter Juanita Mayfield and son-in-law Kenneth Mayfield.

Carroe Mae is survived by her son Elmer Lang II and wife Linda, daughters Debbie Thomas and husband Bob, Cassandra Russell and husband G.W., Jean Mooney and husband Bob, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sharon Russell Greensage and adopted son-in-law Jeff Greensage, her dear friend for over sixty years Aline Scasta, many nieces and nephews and the Colson Road Cowboys.

Pallbearers are: Jeremy Lang, Elmer Lang III, Chris Thomas, Mark Mayfield, David Russell, Kevin Russell, Warren Russell, and Gerald Russell.

Carroe Mae asked her family to express her appreciation to the St. Joseph Nurses and the Hospice Brazos Valley Nurses for her care. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan TX 77803 or Northview Baptist Church, 1809 Tabor Rd., Bryan TX 77803.
