WASHINGTON – Etta M. Schimmelpfenning, 78, of 1211 St. died at 2 a.m. Friday at her home after a two-week illness.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Woolsey Funeral Home, the Rev. Galen Russell officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born April 11, 1902, at Manito, a daughter of Johnathan and Sophania Underwood Seelye. She married Henry Schimmelpfenning Aug. 13, 1921, at Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Clifford, Washington; Louis, Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Lucille Neubauer, Creve Coeur; a brother, Ray, Pekin; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A son, a daughter, eight brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Martha Circle.

Memorials may be made to the church’s memorial fund.
