Marian E. Shepard, Past president of Quota Club

Marian E. Shepard (nee Seeley), 81, a lifelong resident of Elyria, died Monday at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a short illness.

Born in Elyria, she was a 1935 graduate of Elyria High School and a 1936 graduate of the former Oberlin School of Commerce.

Mrs. Shepard worked for 37 years as a medical assistant in the office of Dr. Roy E. Hayes and Dr. Harold E. McDonald in Elyria.

In 1997, she started to work for Lorain County Community Action Agency as the librarian for the Head Start program in Elyria.

She was a member of Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria.

She was a member and past president of the Quota Club in Elyria.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Arnold of Arlington, Texas, and Mary Ann Ash of Wichita, Kan.; one granddaughter; and a sister, Harriett Walkden of Annandale, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade E., in 1984.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. The Rev. Barry R. Kilmer will officiate.

The Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria, is in charge of arrangements.
