Melba Jean Sidwell

Melba Jean Sidwell, 80, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Rolling Hills Health Center.

She was born October 29, 1924 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Elmer J. and Henrietta Ward Seeley.

Melba was a 1942 graduate of Topeka High School. She resided in Topeka from 1924-1945, Waco, TX from 1945-1948, and has remained in Topeka since 1948.

She worked with her husband who was an accountant in Highland Park.

Melba married William B. Sidwell March 13, 1943 in Topeka. He preceded her in death March 28, 2001.

Survivors include, two daughters, Blenda Marquardt, Rocheport, MO; Billye Sidwell, Houston, TX; one son, John Sidwell, Topeka, KS, one brother, Norman Seeley, California; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Wendi, Bridy, Amber, Diane, and Scarlett; and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Prairie Home Cemetery.

Mrs. Sidwell will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. To leave a special message for the family please visit www.PenwellGabel.com
