Mary F. Smith, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2011.
Mary was born November 24, 1926 in Bend, Oregon. Daughter of Meritt and Frances Seely, she grew up in the portable lumber camps in and around Shevlin, Oregon, graduating from Shevlin High School in 1944. She married in 1944, moved to CA in 1949 and lived her life as a devoted Wife, Mom, Grandma, & homemaker while also employed as a secretary for the McCloud Lumber Company, Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Cal-State Hayward, Citation Builders, and Zurich Insurance before moving to Mt. Shasta with her husband in 1987.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Vernon E. Smith. Mary is survived by her sons Vernon (Cindy) and Ralph Smith of Mt. Shasta; Grandchildren Regina & Jerry Faulds of CT, Eric and Eireann Smith of CA, Emily and Marc Jones of OR; Great-grandchildren Tara, Tom, Phinneas, Jaxson, Madison, Ciaran, Michael and Hayden; Great-great grandchildren Anthony and Gabriela; Nephew Mike, and Niece Karen.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the many prayers, thoughtful cards, and words of comfort. Special thanks to Dr. Herfindahl, Dr. Barry, and the caring team of nurses at Mercy Mt. Shasta who cared for Mary during her final days. Special thanks to Pastor Stan Terry, Pastor Ray Horst, and Sister Anne for your spiritual comfort as Mary peacefully left this world to join family and friends in her new heavenly home.
The family invites friends of Mary, Vern and Ralph to attend a celebration of Mary's life at her residence on October 15 at 4 p.m.
