Clara B. Wininger, 87, of Peoria, Arizona, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at her home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at Reck Funeral Home in Miller, South Dakota with the Rev. David Andrews officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller.
Casketbearers were Joel, Jeremy and Dusten Stewart, Ross and Christopher Sweeden and David Baade.
Clara Blanche Seeley was born October 11, 1916 to Edwin and Etta (Palmer) Seeley at Frankfort, S.D. She attended school in Spink and Clark Counties.
She married Harry Stewart July 17, 1933. They lived in Hand County until 1949 when they moved to Pierre. They operated a filling station and cafe until Harry passed away in 1964.
She then moved to Hughson, California, with her daughter and son-in-law in 1965. She met and later married Carl Wininger on January 8, 1970 where they operated a walnut ranch in the Hughson area. Carl passed away in 1989. Five years later, she moved to Peoria, Ariz., where she lived until her death.
She loved cooking, working in the walnut fields and taking care of her yard and fruit trees. Her hobby was feeding and taking care of hundreds of hummingbirds that lived in her backyard and patio.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly (Lyle) Baade of Peoria, Ariz.; a son, Ken (BennaBee) Stewart of Redfield; a step-daughter, Maxine Hubbard of Hughson, Calif.; a step-son, Karl Wininger Jr. of Redding, Calif.; two sisters Ester Kramer of Rapid City and Myrtle Ames of Miller; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three sisters, Mary, Helen and Mamie; and five brothers, Walter, Bill, Earl, Henry and George.
