Dorothea (Thea) Louise Seely Young, 95, passed away quietly at home on October 2, 2014. She was born in Burlington Junction, Missouri on June 30, 1919, to Mary (nee Van Pelt) and Roy Leo Seely. While a young girl, her family moved from Atchison County, Missouri to Faulk County, South Dakota, then during the Dust Bowl, the family moved again and settled in Scappoose, Oregon, where she graduated from high school and went to nursing school.

In 1947 she moved to Texas where she continued her nursing career and married Lloyd Doble Young. In 1959, Thea and Lloyd moved to South Lake Tahoe where she lived for the next 50 years. While there, she was a homemaker, raising a daughter and two sons. Thea later worked as a maid, and then as a housekeeper for several motels on the South Shore.

For the past seven years of her life, Thea lived in the Placerville area where she helped her daughter on a commercial iris farm, working outside daily until she was almost 95.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Young Hess of Somerset, son Robert Young of Murphys, four grandchildren, Erin Hess Kalleen of Sacramento, Kate Young of Corona Del Mar, Eric Hess of Somerset, Holly Young Jones of Gardnerville, Nevada, and two great-grandchildren, John Roy Kalleen V and Hadley Jones.

She was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Elizabeth, and her son Randal Young.
