SELEY, Doris Foss

She was born the 2nd of 4 children to Marsh and Margaret Parker in Oakland, CA on October 24, 1924. Her competitiveness and graceful athleticism were essential attributes growing up with 3 brothers, Don, Jim & Jack, who were always in need of a shortshop, point guard or ping-pong player. On the brink of WWII, her family settled in the Sacramento area where she attended school, graduating from Grant Union H.S. in 1942. Doris was a majorette, played the trumpet and was an outstanding softball player. At Grant Union H.S. she met Jerry Seley whom she married following the war. She carefully charted Jerry's military course as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne from D-Day until he returned home at the end of the war. Their son, Dennis Seley, was born in 1947. She was always very close to her mother, father, brothers, her son and his children, Jeff, Melissa and Jenny. She never overcame the loss of her grandson Jeff in Aug. 2005. Both were loyal and enthusiastic 49ers & Kings fans. When she passed away on September 13, 2006 she was surrounded by her son, granddaughters Melissa & Jenny, her daughter-in-law Nancy & her brother Jimmy. Always quick with a smile, Doris was a vivacious lady with a tremendous sense of humor. She was a natty dresser who wouldn't be seen without a sporty ensemble, a fine pair of shoes & her hair perfectly coiffed. The family wishes to send special thanks to Sutter Hospice & the nurses at The Chateau for their loving care. A Memorial Service will be held on October 5, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at the Dante Club, Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento.
