Gladys M. Seeley-Brown

HYDE PARK - Gladys M. Seeley Brown, 94, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Wednesday April 11, 2007 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie after a brief illness.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Hyde Park Senior Citizens, Hyde Park AARP, and the Boots and Bows Square Dance Club.

Traveling and dancing were her passions and she traveled extensively inside and outside of the United States throughout her life.

Gladys also enjoyed gardening and home life, and was an animal lover.

She was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park.

Born in Wallingford, CT on April 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Peter P. and Mary Reynolds Layman.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Seeley in 1938 and her second husband, Orval Thomas 'Tom' Brown in 1996.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert F. Seeley of Owego, NY and Ronald E. Seeley of Hyde Park; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by all of her siblings.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 Pm, Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 Pm, Monday, April 16th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
