Tilton man dies after car accident

LACONIA -- A Tilton man who was involved in a single-car accident Saturday has died, police said yesterday.

Howard Cilley, 53, of 7 Pine Hill Road was hurt when his silver Nissan rolled over on Rollercoaster Road, then struck a tree, police said. He was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital.

Investigators said they learned yesterday that Cilley had died. The department was waiting for the results of an autopsy.

"We don't know why he passed away," said Sgt. Al Lessard of the Laconia Police Department. "It could be a medical issue. It probably contributed to the accident."

The accident happened about 12:36 a.m. Saturday, police said. Cilley's car, heading west on Rollercoaster Road, reportedly crossed into the eastbound lane. The car flipped over when Cilley "cut" the wheel, Lessard said.

Cilley was alone in the car at the time, according to police.
