WEST TOPSHAM - Wendell D. Cilley, 56, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, as the result of an accident while working on a car.

He was born Sept. 19, 1951, in Barre, the son of Elsie (O'Donnell) and the late Charles Cilley. He graduated from Spaulding High School, attended Yale University and completed his education at the University of Vermont, after two years in the United States Marine Corps.

He was employed for the last 25 years at Upper Valley Services in Bradford.

He enjoyed serving on the Board of Trustees of the Washington Electric Co-Operative for the last 15 years.

He was a skilled mechanic and woodworker, and an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Lesley, daughter Flora Cilley of Portland, Maine, son Benjamin Cilley of Portsmouth, N.H., mother Elsie Cilley of West Topsham, sister Sylvet Cilley of Quebec, Canada, brother Neil Cilley of West Topsham, sister Debbie MacRitchie of West Topsham, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by his father, Charles Cilley.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Waits River.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Tri-Village Fire Department, c/o Diane Henry, Treasurer, Dunnock Drive, West Topsham, or to Little Rivers Healthcare in East Corinth.

The Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea is in charge of arrangements.
