Anita Seeley 1936-2013

Anita M. (Kuhn) Seeley, 77, of Holton, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at The Pines in Holton.

She was born Feb. 12, 1936 in Elizabeth, N.J., the daughter of Albert S. and Anna K. (Mayer) Kuhn.

Anita grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Neptune High School in 1954. She then attended Monmouth Community College. She had lived in Holton since 1965 where she worked as a Special Education Para for the Holton public schools. She was also very involved with the Heart of Jackson Humane Soci¬ety in Holton. Her sweet and gentle nature was abundantly felt by all those who came into contact with her. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was married to Dr. James C. Seeley on Sept. 3, 1958 in Asbury Park, N.J. They were later divorced. Dr. Seeley passed away on Oct. 6, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny Seeley Burton, on Feb. 5, 2004.

Anita is survived by her son, Jim Seeley (Maria) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her daughter, Annie Stanley (Chris) of Odessa, Texas; and her grandchildren, Miles Seeley-Pem, Max Stanley, Mia Stanley and Maddie Seeley-Burton. Her family wishes to thank her friends whose love and caring was so important to her and to them during this difficult time.

A celebration of Anita's life for her friends and family will be held at a later date. Memorials in memory of Anita may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
