Calvin D. Seeley, age 83, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord, Saturday December 29, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Pearl Seeley. He has now also joined in heaven with his daughters, Marsha K. Seeley and Terry Ann Dykstra; and his granddaughter, Christina Sayre. Cal will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Carol Seeley (Blackshear); his daughter, Mary Beth (Chip) Sayre; and his granddaughter, Karlee Brooke Sayre. Cal started his career in the coal cars and worked his way up to Sub-Station Supervisor for Consumer's Energy; he loved his job. He began his work there after serving in the U.S. Air Force. He continued serving his community as a part of the Fire Department in Standale and then Grandville. Cal was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grand Rapids, the American Legion – Neal Fonger Post 179 and the Disabled American Veterans. Throughout his life Cal enjoyed his family, taking many family vacations to Texas to visit relatives. Cal and Carol traveled extensively in their motor home with friends and family. They also loved to snowmobile and were members of the The Talmadge Snowgoers Snowmobile Club. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 2, at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (east building), with a Masonic Service beginning at 3:45 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 7998 28th Ave. in Jenison, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Rev. Matthew Wright will be officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. In honor of Cal, contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
