Died, at his home in Nemaha county, two miles west of Nemaha, Cyrus C. Seeley, on Saturday, March 27, 1897, of diabetes and heart disease.
Mr. Seeley was born at Dayton, Ohio, Oct. 29th, 1852, and was at his death aged 44 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was the only son of Cyrus C. and Mrs. A.M. Seeley, and was the last male in descent of that branch of the family.
Deceased leaves an aged mother, an only daughter, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora M. Smith, of Chicago, and Mrs. B. Bell Andrews, of Stella, Nebr., to mourn his loss.
Mr. Seeley was married to Miss Carrie Boyd, of Carrollton, Ills., Dec. 18, 1873. This union was a happy one for five years when his wife died in childbirth, leaving two daughters, one an infant which soon followed the mother.
Mr. Seeley was extensively engaged in the manufacture of carriages at Carrollton, Ill., up to the year 1884, when his health became so impaired that he entirely abandoned his occupation, moving to this state, where he engaged in farming on a small scale with a view to regaining his health.
He was a quiet unassuming man, an exemplary citizen, a fond parent and a devoted son.
Twenty-four years ago he united with the M.E. church and remained an exemplary and honorable member of that body of Christian people. He was also an Odd Fellow, and a man beloved and respected by all who were familiar with his daily life.
The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Dr. Andrews, of Stella, where a brief service was held by Rev. Barch, and sympathizing neighbors and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Andrews, when the remains were taken by his daughter, Miss Mamie Seeley, to Carrollton, Ill., to be laid by the side of his beloved wife, to whom he was ever faithful to the last.
