Daniel W. Seeley, of Mackinac Island, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, on Mackinac Island.

Daniel was born July 9, 1954, in Litchfield, Mich. He was very active with the Mackinac Island Fire Department and EMS. Dan was a teacher with the Mackinac Island School system for more than 30 years. Through his teaching and volunteering Dan touched many lives.

Survived by three brothers, Jay (Mary) Hawley, Marc Hawley and Timothy Hawley; sister-in-law, Karen Seeley; three nieces, Amy (Travis) Peck, Cheyanna Hawley and Elizabeth Hawley; two nephews, Ryan (Tara) Seeley and Charles Hawley; and six great-nieces and -nephews. Also survived by longtime friends, Alice and Trish Martin. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ardith Hawley; brother David Seeley; nephew Ian Hawley; and his grandparents.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Trinity Episcopal Church on Mackinac Island.

The funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at St. Anne's Catholic Church on Mackinac Island with the Rev. Ronald Smith officiating.

Memorials in memory of Dan may be left to Mackinac Island Fire Department or Episcopal Trinity Church of Mackinac Island.

Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace is assisting the family with arrangements.
