Edward S. Seeley Jr., 82, of the Heartwood Terrace Assisted Living, passed away on September 9, 2012. Born in Schenectady on May 23, 1930, Edward was predeceased by his parents, Naomi and Edward Pete Seeley Sr. and was a graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School Class of 1947 and later graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University Class of 1969. In 1948, Edward began his 55 year banking career with the Schenectady Trust Co. He left Trustco and became an agent for Nationwide Insurance but returned to Trustco as an auditor in the electronic data processing dept. Upon retiring from Trustco, Edward accepted a position with Fleet Bank in the Corporate Trust Dept. His last position was a teller for the First Teachers Federal Credit Union (now First NY Credit Union).

Edward was involved in the community and for many years, he was the Schenectady County treasurer of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, served as president of the Schenectady chapter of the American Bankers Association, and was a past president of the Schenectady East Rotary. He appeared in several productions of the Schenectady Light Opera Co. and the Schenectady Civic Playhouse. An avid reader, he was interested in World War I aviation and over the years collected many models, paintings and books on the subject many rare and out of print. Edward was an avid fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals for over 65 years and his idol was Stan (the Man) Musial.

He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Marilyn) of Salinas, CA, Michael (Julie) of Scotia; and daughter, Denise Cimino (Lawrence Turski) of Rotterdam and former wife, Irene Seeley of Scotia. Edward left behind five grandchildren, Cate and Teagan Seeley of California, Kayla Seeley of Scotia, and Michael and Christopher Cimino of Rotterdam; aunts, Lorraine and Delores Palmer of Schenectady; and his childhood friend, Joseph Barranco of Ballston Lake.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
