Publication Elizabeth Jean (Betty) Seeley died peacefully on Saturday morning, June 23, 2012. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Betty was born on December 14, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Frederick and Ruth Olmstead. She was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri and worked for some time at Halle Brothers Department Store. On March 17, 1945, she married Donald W. Seeley at Fort McClellan, Alabama. They would be married for over 50 years and had 4 children. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and by her brother, Ted Olmstead. She is survived by her children Donald W. Seeley, Jr. (Monica), Diane E. Simpson (Steve), Patricia S. Meyer (Al) and Holly S. Ricketson (Bill), her grandchildren Courtney Hooker, Donald W. Seeley, III, Brittany Deans (Jake), Taylor Irwin (Andrew) and Diana Ricketson and her great grandchildren Hailey Hooker, Kaitlin Deans and Emilee Deans. She is also survived by her sisters Doris Farr and Carol Madsen of Cleveland, Ohio and Pat Hartman of Salem, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a devoted supporter of St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta and had 38 years and countless hours performing volunteer services. She served a term as President of the Hospital Auxiliary. She and her husband Don were founding parishioners and long time members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She also served on the board of Christ the King School. Betty's greatest joy though, was her family. She eagerly looked forward to her yearly vacations in Ormond Beach, Florida with her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff on the 7th floor of St. Joseph's Hospital and the hospice care workers at Halcyon Hospice for their devoted care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30342 or to the charity of your choice . A Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with The Rev. Msgr. Edward J. Dillon as The Celebrant. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
