Ellis Seeley. 76, Dies in Belleville

Ellis A. (Al) Seeley, 76, 308 Bayliss Ave., a bowler with various leagues at State & Madison Recreation, Inc., since its opening in 1927, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, after a short illness.

Mr. Seeley was a machinist at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. for 38 years, retiring eight years ago. During his employment there he bowled with many of the industrial leagues, the American Legion league and the Businessmen’s League.

He belonged to the 25-year club at State & Madison and was a scorekeeper for the city tournaments and the Rockford Morning Star Diamond Tournament.

Survivors include his widow, Mary: two brothers, Elmer, Rockford and Jesse, Tucson, Ariz: one sister, Mrs. Georgia Carlson, DeKalb, and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home, 707 Marchesano Drive, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

SEELEY – Ellis A. (Al) Seeley, 76, 308 Bayliss Ave., died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 1969, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, after a short illness. Born March 20, 1892, in DeKalb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert G. Seeley. Lived 40 years in Rockford, coming here from DeKalb. Married to the former Mary Cooper in DeKalb Nov. 22, 1924. Employed as a machinist by Ingersoll Milling Machine Co., for 38 years, retiring eight years ago. He was a bowler at State & Madison since it opened in 1927 and averaged about 180. He bowled in the American legion league, different teams at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co., and a businessmen’s league. He belonged to the 25-Year Club at State & Madison and was a scorekeeper for the City Tournament and the Rockford Morning Star Diamond Tournament. Survivors include: widow; two brothers, Elmer, Rockford, and Jesse, Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Georgia Carlson, DeKalb, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Elmer, two brothers and three sisters.

Services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home, 707 Marchesano Drive. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. A visitation will be held at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, 1 to 9 p.m. Monday.
