AGE: 85 • Belford

Elwood E. Seeley, 85, of Belford, passed away peacefully at home with his children at his bedside on June 7. Elwood was born on Feb. 8, 1928 in Long Branch, NJ and spent most of his life in Belford. Mr. Seeley spent almost 40 years on the Middletown Twp. Police Department, retiring as Lieutenant in 1993. He also was a life member of the Independent Fire Co., serving as President for many years. He was Chief of the Middletown Twp. Fire Dept in 1960. Mr. Seeley was a charter member of the Middletown PBA Local 124, serving as it's first state delegate. He was a charter member of the Middletown Twp. Superior Officers Assn. and a member of the Middletown Twp. Retired Police Officer's Assn.

After his retirement, Elwood could always be spotted riding his Ford pick-up truck around Belford with his faithful companion Oscar. His daily routine included visiting Sissy's Restaurant to meet up with his buddies for breakfast and later Elwood could be seen at Rick's One Stop for coffee. Elwood did everything with great pride and was well-respected amongst his fellow officers at the Police Department and firefighters at the Fire Department.

Mr. Seeley was predeceased by his parents William H. Seeley and Fannie Bennett Seeley, sister Fannie Johnson and his LOVING WIFE of 53 years Edna M. Seeley who passed away July 2012. Elwood was a wonderful and devoted father to his children Lynn Woods (Gary) of Florida, Joanne Lehnes (Bob) of Freehold, Elwood Seeley Jr. (Linda) of Barnegat, William H. Seeley (Cheryl) of Belford, Debbie Seeley of Belford, Gerri Rizzetta (Dr. Anthony Rizzetta) of Galloway Twp., and Edward Seeley (Julie) of Middlesex. Elwood was also a wonderful grandfather to his 7 grandchildren, Kirk and Ryan Seeley, Christina Rizzetta, Kyra and Steven Seeley, Patrick and Megan Seeley, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Danica, Kirk and Brennan Seeley. Elwood will be missed dearly by his loving family and all his friends.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 6-9 pm, Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm and again Wednesday at 10 am prior to the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 12th at the funeral home. The burial and committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Independent Fire Co. in Belford.
