George Henry Seeley


George Henry Seeley went to "Post Everlasting" on Dec. 3 at Togus Veterans Affairs Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Cushing on June 22, 1929, to the late Forrest and Louisa (Cousins) Seeley.

In 1935 he and his family moved to Belfast where he attended school. George enlisted in the Army in 1945 where he served for seven years. He married Elizabeth Flagg of Belfast in 1957. George was a proud member of the American Legion Post no. 43, VFW, Scottish Rites, Sons of American Legion, Valley of Rockland and also a long standing Mason. He was also a staunch supporter of the Special Olympics and worked for many years to raise money for both the Olympics and the Maine Blind Camp.

George is survived by his wife Elizabeth; their two children Candace Welch and her husband Michael, and George Jr. and his wife Earleen; grandchildren Adam and Evan Welch and Madison and Ethan Seeley. All of George's family members were important members of his journey through this life.

No services will be held. Anyone wishing to make memorial donations in George's memory may do so to American Legion Post no. 43, "Kitchen Fund" 143 Church St. Belfast, Maine, 04915. A Celebration of his life will be held next summer.
